You will begin thinking about your writer-researcher identity. As such, you will construct a narrative that's central to your academic interests. You will craft a playlist that represents that narrative and/or identity. Music is writing, after all, and crafting a playlist is more than just throwing songs into a queue. As you find and choose songs, order them, and make art for your playlist, think about your process and how this relates to your writing process as a whole (don't think about this as separate from your writing process because this is writing. It's not traditional, but it a sort of crafting that I think more than counts.). You can also think about the decisions you have to make during this project.

For the playlist, you must have at least five songs, though you can have more. There are no restrictions on the songs. If you think they qualify as a song, have at it. It'd be best to create these on Spotify, but you don't have to. If you choose not to use Spotify (if they either don't have the songs you need or you don't want or have Spotify), you will include all the parts of your playlist in your final Word document.

Lastly, you will compose a three hundred to five hundred word document explaining your process of creating this playlist. You can ask yourself questions like: What did you title the playlist and why? Did you make it public on Spotify? Did you choose only songs that you knew or did you search and seek out new songs? How did you decide on the order of the songs? What was the hardest part of creating a playlist? What was the easiest? And so forth.

Along with the playlist, you will turn in a Word document that lists the songs on your playlist, includes the cover art, and under each song title, you will make a brief annotation for why you chose that song (this can include why it is where it is in the list, what the song represents, explanations of a particular line in the song that you want to highlight, etc.). Each annotation should be at least one hundred words.
