Instruction:
Take the human rights lens scale in the McPherson, Siebert and Seibert (2017) article, and share opinions about the scale and its questions with a family member. Explain critical reflection on the experience taking the scale and discussion with a family member.
Measuring Rights-Based Perspectives: A Validation of the Human Rights Lens in Social Work Scale
Jane McPherson, Carl F. Siebert, and Darcy Clay Siebert
- Did you and the family member have different opinions?
- Do you believe there should be different questions contained on the scale?
- How useful do you think a human rights lens in social work is, and in what ways would it be useful to carrying out the mission of the social work profession?
- Do you think a human rights-based lens can better inform goal-setting and action-planning in social work practice, as the authors have suggested?
