1. When was your law code in use (date range)?
2. What society did your code of laws refer to?
3. What main laws/rules are dealt with in your law code? Identify 3-5 main topics.
4. What social issues are addressed by the law code you are studying? In other words... what do we learn about the need for law during that time period? What rights did people have under that system of law, and how are people being protected?
5. Does the code protect individual and societal rights in equal balance? Why or why not?
6. Did the code focus more on retribution or restitution?
7. What laws are most outdated or ridiculous? Why? Include examples of the laws.
8. Did you come across any examples of famous cases from that period? If so, describe one or two of them and explain whether a just outcome occurred.
9. Critically evaluate whether or not the code of laws would have been effective. Explain the reasons for your thinking.
