On August 21, 1998, newspapers began to report that General Motors was about to introduce an infrared sensor and display system in its Cadillac models, starting in the 2000 model year. This is a heat-sensitive system that displays images of people or animals in the darkness in front of an automobile. The display is a small screen on the windshield. The range is up to 500 meters; regular headlights have a range of about 100 meters. Research the developments in this technology and see if GM approached the introduction of this technology in the same way that GE approached the introduction of the sealed beam headlight.
