The patient undergoes an open AV fistula revision with thrombectomyDue to the need for repeated IV infusions, a 64-year-old patient requires placement of a central venous access device. Local lidocaine is administered and the subclavian/jugular vein is punctured. The guidewire is passed centrally and the central venous catheter is placed. The catheter is sutured in position, dressed in standard fashion, and attached to IV infusion fluids.
