Emma is a 35-year-old Metis woman with a 10-year history of Type 2 DM. She also has peripheral vascular disease, high cholesterol and vision changes. She is admitted to the medical unit for gastroenteritis and blood glucose level of 17.5 mmol/L.
Subjective data: "My vision is blurred, and I have trouble with my central vision" "I am scared I'm going to fall when I come down the stairs because I can't tell how deep the steps are."
Objective: BP 160/90, HR 89, O2 94% on r/a CBG 17.5 and waist 39 inches with BMI of 31.
