Assignment Requirements
Overview: The tourism industry is a multi-sectoral industry interlinked and working together to provide comprehensive travel experiences. This assignment brief is designed to help you explore the tourism industry concept a vital skill required by managers within the tourism industry. You will be able to identify the key industry sectors and companies within the tourism industry and explain the global sustainable strategies they employ for long-term business survival. In addition, you will research different sectors within the tourism
industry, understand their specialised products and services, and understand the relationship between tourists, tourism businesses, and local communities at different destinations.
The tourism industry tailors its products and services around specific tourism types/niches, ensuring they cater to specific customers. This approach is guided by tourist-type theories, which help companies understand the diverse needs and preferences of tourists. As a result, larger tourism companies typically offer a wide range of products rather than focusing on just one tourist type. This strategy allows them to capture a broader market share and increase profitability by appealing to a more diverse audience for long-term business survival.
Assignment tasks: The assignment tasks are group presentation, which involves preparing and delivering in a group of (4-5 students). Create a PowerPoint presentation of 8 - 10 slides with speaker notes. You will be delivering this presentation in front of your class, and marks are given for you delivery.
The presentation must have speaker notes underneath each slide. Choose a destination in a country you have never visited.
Identify the key tourism products in the destination.
Identify the main tourism services available at the destination.
Ensure that all types of tourism businesses are included in your presentation - e.g. transportation, accommodation, attractions, tour operators and travel agents.
Each slide must be based on research with a Harvard Reference included on the slide.
The presentation must show data that proves, form research, the popularity of the destination and the tourism products and services available.
