Assume that your team has been formed by Boeing's senior management to assess and propose remedies for the organizational and management problems that resulted in problems associated with the development and delivery of the 787 Max. You are all Boeing employees and your presentation is to be to the CEO and the other C-level executives at Boeing (e.g., CFO, Chief Marketing Officer, etc.).
Senior management has requested a candid assessment of the organizational and management issues related to the 787 Max with the understanding that these problems have the potential to affect the development of current and future commercial aircraft. Therefore, specific, realistic actionable recommendations for remedy are requested.
Scope
The scope of the project is to be decided by the team. In particular, the team must decide which course material is relevant to the 787 Max and to Boeing in general, and then frame a presentation around those topics. Scope, therefore, will vary across teams. For example, one team might decide that Boeing's organizational structure needs to be changed, while others might focus on reward systems.
It is important that the scope be chosen based on an analysis of the decisions and actions related to the development of the 787 Max and the choice not to act decisively after the Lion Air accident. Gathering the necessary information will require outside research and both the Seattle Times and the New York Times have excellent, comprehensive coverage of Boeing and the 737 Max.
Presentation Structure
Presentations will vary by team, but they should have these common elements:
Agenda-introduces the sequence and components of the presentation
Objective-briefly defines the purpose of the presentation
Detailed explanation
They can do following things
- They need to fix the flight control system which has caused an errant failure which led to two crashes in five month's time
- The MCA's sensors should be backed by more than two backing up sensors, to support crashing ,the single sensor design was not fail safe.
- They can use two AoA sensors for safety, this will allow pilot to control nose easily for climbing altitude.
- The Pilots should be trained under the new MCA and AOA sensor design
- If they implement usage of two MCA sensor's and implementation of two AOA sensor, this will improvise the overall performance of the FCS(flight control system)
