ASSIGNMENT 1: Multi media presentation (PowerPoint) addressing how learning spaces impact on both teachers and learners
Purpose: The purpose of this assessment task is to showcase students' comprehension of the concepts, theories, and considerations surrounding learning spaces in the context of the EDFD459 course. Through a multimedia presentation, students will examine a specific learning space category, analysing its strengths, weaknesses, and impact on both teachers and learners to highlight the implications for effective teaching and learning practices.
ASSIGNMENT 2: Development of a Personal Learning Network using blogging software (ACU LEO Wiki)
Purpose: The purpose of this assessment task is to enable students to create and develop a Personal Learning Network (PLN) using blogging software, allowing them to connect with others, share ideas, and engage in reflective practice. By exploring various categories of learning spaces covered in the course, students will apply their understanding to design and customize an online learning space that suits their unique learning needs and interests.

Assessment Task 2: Multimedia Presentation on the Impact of Learning Spaces
Task Description:
For this assessment task, you are required to create a multimedia presentation that addresses how learning spaces impact both teachers and learners. Your presentation should demonstrate your understanding of the concepts, theories, and considerations related to learning spaces in the context of the EDFD459 course on Learning Spaces. Through the use of multimedia elements, you will explore a category of learning space and their strengths, weaknesses, and implications for teaching and learning.
Instructions:
Select one category (for instance the Online Discussion Forum) of learning space from one of the following modules (for example the Module - The electronic learning space) covered in the course, ensuring that you have not covered this category in Assessment Task 1.
Please note, the categories of learning space provided under each Module for the course are provided simply as a guide. Students are welcome to come up with their own learning space ideas or use the ones provided.
a) The electronic learning space:
1. Online Discussion Forums: Students engage in asynchronous discussions on a virtual platform, sharing ideas, asking questions, and providing feedback.
2. Virtual Labs: Students access virtual simulations and perform experiments in an online environment, replicating real-world laboratory experiences.
3. Webinars or Online Workshops: Students participate in live webinars or interactive online workshops conducted by experts in a specific field.
4. E-Portfolios: Students create and maintain digital portfolios to showcase their work, reflect on their learning, and track their progress over time.
b) The personal learning space:
1. Home Study Area: Students create a dedicated study area at home with a desk, comfortable seating, and necessary learning resources.
2. Digital Learning Apps: Students use personalized learning apps on their devices to access educational content tailored to their individual needs and interests.
3. Learning Journals: Students maintain personal journals to reflect on their learning experiences, set goals, and document their growth and achievements.
4. Personalized Learning Plans: Students work with teachers to develop individualized learning plans that address their unique learning styles, strengths, and areas for improvement.
c) The group learning space:
1. Collaborative Learning Tables: Students work together in small groups around tables designed to facilitate discussion, group work, and information sharing.
2. Project-Based Learning Zones: Designated areas in the classroom where students collaborate on long-term projects, utilizing resources and materials specific to their project.
3. Learning Pods: Small groups of students work together in designated areas outside the classroom, fostering peer-to-peer collaboration and shared learning experiences.
4. Peer Feedback Stations: Stations set up within the classroom where students provide feedback to their peers on their work, promoting constructive criticism and reflection.
d) The cultural contexts of learning spaces:
1. Multilingual Classrooms: Classrooms that incorporate resources, materials, and instructional strategies that support students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
2. Indigenous Learning Centres: Dedicated spaces within educational institutions that honour and celebrate Indigenous cultures, incorporating cultural artifacts and traditional teaching methods.
3. International Classrooms: Classrooms that embrace cultural diversity by integrating global perspectives, engaging in cross-cultural dialogue, and promoting intercultural understanding.
4. Heritage Rooms: Specific rooms or areas in schools that showcase the cultural heritage of the local First Nations Peoples.
Create a multimedia presentation (15-20 slides) that addresses the following points:
a) Introduction:
Provide an overview of the importance of learning spaces and their impact on both teachers and learners.
State the purpose and structure of your presentation.
b) Category of Learning Space:
For the selected category of learning space, describe its key characteristics, features, and purposes.
Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the chosen learning space category in relation to the teaching and learning needs of teachers, students, and children.
Discuss the implications of the chosen learning space category for instructional strategies, student engagement, and collaborative learning.
c) Factors and Perspectives:
Demonstrate an understanding of the factors and perspectives that need to be considered when visualising, creating, managing, and adapting learning spaces.
Explain how these factors and perspectives influence the design and utilisation of the chosen learning space category.
d) Future Planning:
Investigate and understand the steps involved in planning educational environments for the future.
Discuss innovative ideas and emerging trends in learning space design and how they can address the evolving needs of teachers and learners.
e) Conclusion:
Summarise the main points discussed in your presentation.
Reflect on the overall impact of learning spaces on both teachers and learners.
