Certain civil liberties guaranteed by the Bill of Rights offer protection for crime suspects, people officially accused of crimes, or those convicted. In developing the Bill of Rights, the Constitution's Framers deliberately made it difficult to convict people of crimes. Accordingly, four amendments in the Bill of Rights deal with the rights of the suspected, accused, or convicted.
