The Ministry of Health in a low-income country needs assistance in developing a surveillance system to monitor nutrition. Given your public health expertise, your US team has been invited to work with the local public health unit to develop, implement and assess the surveillance system. Before embarking on a country-wide effort, however, your team will develop a pilot program in a mid-sized city and report the results back to the public health unit. Consider the issues below regarding your pilot program and prepare responses. Decide on a low- or middle-income country and population (e.g., infants and children, adults, older adults, or specialized populations, such as refugees or immigrants) for your focus before proceeding with the assignment.
