Formulate a linear program for the following problem. A hospital dietitian is developing the recipe of a healthy dish for the patients’ dinner. The dish contains the four ingredients mashed potatoes, grits, asparagus, and chicken. The dietitian has the following requirements for the dinner:

· At least 25% of the dish weight must be grits.

· At least 30% of the dish weight must be chicken.

· The ratio of grits to asparagus cannot exceed 1.5 to 2.

· The amount of grits cannot exceed the amount of mashed potatoes.

· Because of the large number of patients they have, the hospital needs to prepare at least 14,400 ounces of the dinner per day.

The daily availability of ingredients to prepare the dish is 7,500 ounces of mashed potatoes, 5,000 ounces of grits, 9,200 ounces of asparagus, and 6,500 ounces of chicken. An ounce of mashed potatoes costs $0.05; an ounce of grits, $0.03; an ounce of asparagus, $.09; and an ounce of chicken, $0.72. The dietitian wants to know the number of ounces of each ingredient to buy daily in order to minimize the dinner cost.
