Assignment Detail
You have been engaged by CCT to analyse the college's use of the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) and research Moodle functionality versus the functionality/capabilities of other LMS available in the market. You are aware that Moodle is an example of Open Source software, but you need to research the market alternatives.
Provide a report to CCT Management with:
- An analysis of the existing use of the Moodle LMS;
- Recommendations in relation to Moodle functionality that you have identified but which you believe is not being used by CCT, or not being used to its best advantage. Make sure you explain your recommendations clearly.
- A comparison with ONE OTHER LMS that you have identified. This can be EITHER Open Source OR Proprietary.
- [IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT include a history of Moodle, or other extraneous detail about how the system was developed, what Moodle stands for, etc. Keep you report focussed on the matter at hand.]
In Particular, you MUST:
a) Critically analyse CCT's use of Moodle and describe TWO areas where you believe this use is "best practice" (if any) and TWO areas where this use is in need of improvement. [This should focus on functionality that is CURRENTLY present/available, but which you believe could be used better by CCT]
b) Identify ANY TWO MOODLE PLUGINS that CCT does not currently use (as far as you can tell!), and make a coherent case for why CCT should use this additional functionality.
c) Research ONE other LMS available in the market and determine (as far as possible) the functionality available.
d) Provide your own summary as to what you have found, comparing Moodle with the alternative LMS that you have researched.
e) Outline the strategic advantages and disadvantages (as you see them) of using an Open Source system Vs a Proprietary system. You must include this EVEN IF your alternative LMS is also an Open Source system.
f) Reference ALL sources that you have used and cite these properly in your report. DO NOT REFERENCE WIKIPEDIA UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
g) WORD COUNT: Approx. 1200-1500 words.
