Part A: Developing and Implementing Innovative Workplace Culture

One of the critical success factors for allowing innovation in the workplace lies in the organisation's environment and culture. To maximise opportunities for innovation in your organisation, you must also know how to build culture, coach, and mentor your team members to develop their capacity to contribute to innovation and model the desired behaviour.

Part A: Innovative Workplace Culture Strategy

Having analysed industry trends and prescribing the various innovative thinking practices that Us3 Steakhouse canadopt in its efforts to use innovation to improve its products and services under yourleadership as HR manager, you are now to do develop a strategy to promote and sustain the culture ofinnovation for the organisation in which you are to:

1. Innovative processes, practices, services Promotion Strategy

a) For each of the listed Business areas listed, identify the processes and practices, products and or services for innovative thinking that Us3 Steakhouse can establish to build a culture of innovation and the methods that can be used to introduce and promote them to employees/ stakeholders

2. Communication Strategy
a) Capturing innovative ideas and practices is essential to Us3 meeting market demands by designing new or improving current products and services . Determine how you will capture, communicate and share contributed ideas from Us3 employees and stakeholders.
b) It is essential to foster team communication and consultation to optimize the skills and input of groups to build innovative culture at Us3. Elaborate on TWO examples of these methods for each .

3. Team Management Strategy
a) Using the 5-step approach to team development for innovation, research and review how Us3 can develop team to manage the issues they are facing. Explain how Us3 Steakhouse can use this to promote innovative ideas with regards to the issues listed in the case. Use external research to demonstrate how it will be beneficial to workplace culture if necessary and cite your references below .

4. Resource Plan
a) Research, analyse and discuss the various types of resources needed to implement for any 3 of the innovative thinking practices for Us3 Steakhouse you have identified in Section 1 .

5. Fostering Innovation
a) Develop strategies, based on your research on other actual organisations, to encourage innovation in workplace culture in on the following areas:
i) Diversity and Inclusion
ii) Role Modelling
iii) Staff Empowerment
iv) Leadership Styles
v) Collaborative Work Environments

6. Innovation Systems and Processes
a) Systems that support innovation can be built by consulting with relevant stakeholders. Elaborate on any ONE system to collect feedback from employees and ONE system to collect feedback from customers and show how they support innovative thinking in their implementation.
b) Innovations are most successful when they address specific problems and can be integrated into existing processes. For each of the listed steps, provide a description of the process and the implementation process of Us3 Steakhouse in supporting a culture of innovation.

Part B: Sustaining Innovative Thinking and Practices

In Part A, you identified and described the tools and methods to supporting a culture of innovation under the scope of Human Resources for management to utilise in the promoting of innovative thinking and practices in Us3 Steakhouse.

Innovative Thinking and Practices Sustainability Strategy

Your task in Part B is to focus on making innovation an integral part of the daily operations of Us3 Steakhouse to ensure long-term sustainability of the innovative thinking and practice strategy you have outlined in Part A, specifically to design systems and processes to recognised individual contributions, to analyse barriers and risks involved and to analyse the effect of innovation performance for areas of improvement.

To complete this section, you are to develop a comprehensive Innovative thinking and Practices sustainability strategy.

1. Innovation Sustainability strategies
Innovation comes from developing a shared sense of purpose and creativity has to be unleashed and sustained throughout the organization. This comes from every individual staff and stakeholder embracing innovation as an organisational value at Us3 Steakhouse.
a) For each of the listed values, provide a description of the value and develop an appropriate strategy to promote and sustain the value to ensure that innovation becomes an integral and sustained part of work activity.

2. Process Confirmation, Monitoring and recognition
Both individuals and teams contribute to innovation and individuals need to be aware of the impact and importance of their contributions to innovative thinking and practice.
a) For each of the key questions listed to assist you in developing your strategy to confirm and monitor ongoing awareness develop a process that can confirm, affirm ongoing awareness of individuals and teams contributions at Us3 Steakhouse.
b) Develop a process that can confirm, affirm and recognise the contributions of teams based on the listed criteria.

3. Risk Management
Innovative thinking and practices are often met with barriers to change and implementation.
a) Identify at least THREE barriers to change that staff at Us3 Steakhouse might face and their impact on innovative thinking
b) For each barrier identify and define a strategy that can be implemented to overcome the barrier to innovation
c) The sustaining of innovative workplace culture includes the accompanying risks and barriers to change.
i. For each of the strategies that you have identified in Question 1
ii. Evaluate each practice to determine the potential risk
iii. Identify the type of risk (Financial, Revenue, Compliance, Operational etc)
iv. Analyse each risk to determine the overall risk rating ( low, moderate, high or critical risk)
v. Based on your risks and barriers to the identified practices, identify methods that Us3 Steakhouse can manage and mitigate those risks to more effectively sustain the culture of innovative thinking amongst the stakeholders and staff

4. Reflection and Analysis
Organisations must track any business activity that they take up and assess it against the desired objectives. Without this monitoring and review, it would not be possible to say with certainty whether the business activity or practice has been successful.
i. Identify at least THREE analytical methods that can be used to measure innovation performance on the strategies you have described in Question 1.
ii. Identify how each method will be used to analyse innovation performance
iii. Identify and define how this will be used to analyse and reflection on innovative strategies.

Part C Monitor and present strategies

Based on your strategies you have designed to build on innovative thinking and practices in Us3 Steakhouse's sustainable workplace culture, you must seek feedback and confirm awareness of innovative thinking and practice from all staff and present your findings to management on the capacity to sustain innovative thinking and practice in Us3 Steakhouse.

a) Construct and administer a survey using Google Forms consisting of at least 8 quantitative questions and 2 qualitative questions to seek out responses on the workplace culture, awareness, and innovation sustainability strategies. You need to have a sample size of at least 5 respondents.

b) Develop a presentation that includes:
i) Introduction to and promotion of at least one innovative practices
ii) Benefits to the organisation and how innovative thinking and practices will benefit Us3
iii) At least one strategy to ensure sustainability of innovation within the organisation
iv) At least one barrier and subsequent action to overcome the barrier
v) Your analysis of the survey results identifying and confirming ongoing awareness of innovative thinking practices.
vi) Specifically request feedback from your manager

c) Present your Sustainability strategy and survey findings in 10 min presentation to management (your trainer will play this role).

You will be observed during the meeting on your ability to communicate and interact with the client. The following oral communication skills and specific task requirements will be observed. Please ensure you review these criteria prior to your presentation.

e) Specifically requested feedback on innovation strategies developed

Part D Review reflection and change
Following your review of the survey data, presentation and feedback received you must review your Innovative Thinking and Practices Sustainability Strategies (Part A and Part B)
a) Identify at least 2 changes in each strategy.
b) Highlight any and all changes in yellow.
