Almost 7 in 10 HR leaders cite business continuity as their top challenge during the COVID-19 outbreak (HRD News, 2022). Close behind on their list of priorities include managing performance, recruitment, health and safety at work, compensation, and employee communications to increase awareness. The outbreak has allowed HR managers to effectively demonstrate the importance of HR strategies towards mitigating people risk. Human resource professionals play a key role in developing polices programs and procedures to provide a framework for business continuity in the face of a pandemic.

As part of the post analysis of COVID, your organization of choice is preparing operational, HR and related policies and procedures to mitigate against future pandemic/disasters, HR is charged with the dual role of ensuring that the organization continues to operate efficiently while ensuring that employers are safe at work. As the Human Resource specialist, you have been tasked with developing a health and safety plan for top management approval that addresses how the organization intends to manage it human resource in the face of a pandemic/disasters.

1) Provide a justification for the various contents of the plan and the ways in which these are employed discuss how the HR business continuity plan will be linked to the strategic objectives of the organization- Include rationale, risk assessment, critical business function, how the plan will be operationalized, Internal and External Communication and Employee and External contact procedure

2) Develop the plan in line with current HR capacity related to HRD, technology, remote workers, employee separation, layoffs, etc.).

3. Identify how the plan will be implemented.

4. Provide recommendations for implementation

5. Organization overview , Plan scope and applicability, Plan objectives and Plan assumptions.
