Structure of an Episode
There are two parts to an Episode:
1) a paragraph that involves the re-telling or summary of the story told in your newspaper article in 1930s; and
2) a paragraph that places that story in its larger historical context or explains what was occurring at that time in history that made this particular story relevant.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Episode should have an engaging title.
2. Two paragraphs as described above of roughly two fifty words each for a total of five hundred words.
3. The primary source for the first paragraph must be a newspaper article from an historical newspaper that appeared in 1930s.
4. Two secondary sources must be used to develop the larger historical context of the newspaper story. It is not expected that you will engage in additional significant research at this stage, the larger historical context should be fairly evident and not that difficult to discover. The sources can be books, scholarly journal articles, or even history textbooks.
5. All sources used must be cited appropriately with in-text citations and a Works Cited list.
6. Make sure that you name, date/duration of the event, location of the event, a couple of relevant tags (topical words that do not appear in the title) and the course title appear in the top left hand corner of the first page.
