This Coursework comprises of the total assessments marks. It will develop the following skills:
Analytical skill - The student will improve their ability to visualize, articulate, conceptualize or solve both complex and uncomplicated problems by making decisions that are sensible given the available information in developing their own company information.
Leadership skills - This activity will develop the leadership skills by organizing the group to reach a shared ideas in their business structure, motivate each member and improve their decision making with-in the working group. Dividing the task with specific schedule and activities.
In addition, the assessment will test the following learning outcomes:
Demonstrate understanding of the influence of the organisation's aims, strategy, culture and resources and the broader business environments.
Utilise a range of tools and techniques to analyse and evaluate markets, market opportunities and market segments.
Demonstrate understanding of the principles of supply and demand and their influence on the market place.
Use market and financial data to set and monitor marketing objectives and prices.
Develop tactical level marketing plans which define marketing mixes appropriate to the marketplace, target group and market conditions.
Demonstrate understanding of the need for maintaining quality and customer focus and for innovation in order to build and maintain competitive advantage.
Assessment Task
This is a group assessment wherein each member is expected to contribute to the final output. Each group must have a maximum of five members. The brochure must be designed and printed coloured for final submission. Prepare the task as detailed below. Read carefully the instructions.
Food industry has a vast market share in every place in Oman. For that reason, restaurants, coffee & tea shops and mobile food can or vending machines are now everywhere in the country. This is an indication that food business is in demand. To test your marketing skills, you are required to create a plan of your own food business and develop a company brochure where vital information of the business are presented. Make sure to conduct environmental scanning in Oman since the location must be in Oman. Ensure that the chosen food business is realistic and has demand in the current market, all required business information must be presented in the form of brochure.
Your company brochure must contain the following
1. A uniquely design brochure appropriate for food business; must be 6 pages with chronologically arranged information contained in the inside pages.
2. The information content of the brochure must contain:
a. A uniquely developed company name and logo.
b. Introduction of the company - In a brief and concise manner, write the company information by describing the products and/ or services and background of the company.
3. A marketing mix of your own food business that contains:
a. Product
Product statement that discusses what the product is, describes the quality, branding and other features of the product.
Provide an image of each product and write a short description with price and features or benefits of the product.
b. Price - Identify and describe the pricing strategy and what makes your strategy unique.
c. Place - Identify and discuss the proper channel of distribution of the business. Explain why you choose that type of distribution by considering the audience. Describe the needs of your target customer and how they typically access your product
d. Promotion - Develop a promotional strategy that fits the business and explain why it is effective for the business based on the current market.
4. Provide the contact details of the company.
