Question
Students should imagine they work at the selected employer and the head of the department has asked the student to develop a suitable screening plan/checklist for the employer to use while going through its selection process for the vacant job. The student might imagine he/she might end up working side-by-side with the successful candidate, so students should include items on the checklist the student would like to see the ideal candidate satisfy. See example checklist, with rationale sections, on the final page of this document. The screening plan should contain the following items:
a complete list of the information collection tools the employer will use during its recruiting and selection exercises that are relevant to the employer and the particular job
the student's rationale for including the information collection tool in the list
consideration to the employer's presumed desire for its selection process to be both scientifically (employing valid predictors of target job performance), and legally, sound
a description of any assumed specific background factors about the employer that might provide context for the student's choices and rationales, including the importance of relevant types of job behaviour in the employment context
note potential adverse impacts on potential applications associated from using any of the selected information collection tools
