Course Project Objective
The Course Project for MGMT408 is composed of 2 parts. The first part is about analyzing existing RFP solicitation structures to use as a model for the student to develop Request for Proposal (RFP) solicitation, in this way allowing the students to familiarize themselves with the outsourcing processes and specifically with the contract management process.
Project Deliverables
PART 1 - Find Examples of RFPs
Search for at least 3 RFP examples on the IT arena that could help you in creating your own RFP in STEP 2.
There are two areas to explore when looking for your RFP Examples to use to conduct your research:
1. Perform a search on Google (or another search engine) and look for RFP Templates in the area of IT that you are interested in finding more information. There are two examples written in Part 2 below; however, follow you interest as long as it is IT related. Some searches will return a 'real' RFP for review.
- Potential search words include RFP format for software projects, Examples,
- RFP Examples for Network Refresh (some include a RFP number and provides a good example)
2, The following websites return actual RFPs and are a bit more difficult to navigate. I've had limited success in finding a good bid for example (perhaps you'll be able to find good examples in these links - you should at least register and explore the sites. Remember to use the free version.:
- https://www.Fbo.gov(Links to an external site.) (Links to an external site.)
- https://www.bidsync.com/bidsync-app-web/vendor/shared/BidOpportunities.xhtml(Links to an external site.) (Links to an external site.)
- I tried keywords: IT, Network, Equipment - then hit search
- I clicked on the bid and received 'Manage your Subscription Opportunities' message but clicked on the Bid Opportunities (under the search bar).
- Received the list again - but I double clicked on one of the bids and it opened.
- Clicked on Bid Details' on the right side of the screen.
- Also clicked on the document tab in the bid and it gave me some PDF's to download or open.
You may be required to register. Instructions are located at the site within the documentation.
- Once at the website, you will enter your search criteria for the state and type field for a solicitation.
- Search for opportunities within a recent 90-day period and select any opportunity of interest to you.
- Include the solicitation number, requestor's name, RFP type, and product or service being requested, and contract award date.
- Analyze the selected formal written proposal for structure, content, and unique requirements specific to the product or service being requested. Review the delivery methods, legal requirements, and other relevant points for consideration to be included as appropriate to the RFP solicitation you will be creating.
PART 1: Assignment summary
Search the select RFP Solicitations and formats and examples that are IT Related and write an analysis on the sections within the selected RFPs.
- Weeks 1 through 3 no submission; however, you should begin working on your Course Project Part 1 due Week 4 please see below:
- NOTE: You are not responding to the RFP solicitation in Part 1; you are just analyzing the most important sections to prepare you for PART 2 of the course project
DUE Week 4: Written analysis as described below:
- RFP Summary This is usually taken from the instructions to bidders, which can be found in the requestor section, the instructions to bidders, in the scope statement, and/or the description of work.
- Analyze the procurement statement of work (P-SOW) found in the RFP and include why it is needed.
- Analyze the selection criteria and methodology to be used for selecting a winner proposal.
- Analyze the type of contract being used in the RFP. Is it a "fixed price", or a "cost plus" contract, or other type of contract?
