Use of Predictive AI in the Olympics.
Predictive AI is a form of Artificial Intelligence that uses statistical analysis to identify patterns in large data sets to anticipate behaviours and forecast future events. It uses machine learning techniques to make predictions based on historical data. Predictive AI is used across many industries, including for healthcare diagnosis, customer behaviour and sports performance predictions.
AI in elite sports competitions, such as the Olympics, has been at the forefront of using technology to better athlete and judging outcomes. Recently, AI has been appliedin sport competitions worldwide to improve judging accuracy, better security and crowd management and personalised spectator experiences. While AI has helped todeliver fair and efficient elite competitions, there are also dangers arising from the use of AI systems in sport.
Your organisation, EliteSports, is the peak sports body advising the Australian Olympics Committee on new initiatives in AI technology in sport competitions. In preparation for the Brisbane Olympics in 2032, the Australian Olympic Committee is requesting research on how the committee can use AI to support the Olympics. You are employed as a newproject officer who has just joined a small teamat EliteSports tasked with advising the Australian Olympics Committee on the likely impacts of AI in the future.
Your recommendationsare sought on decisions affecting the preparation for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.
The Australian Olympic Committee is keen to start research on the positive and negative consequences of using Predictive AI in sports competitions to make decisions and future work provisions to help conduct the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. They wish to start now which should ensure the use of Predictive AI technology at the Brisbane 2032 Olympics is implemented carefully.
Today you were told the person tasked with this project has unexpectedly left the organisation and is no longer available to advise you on the project. Your former team member did not start this project before they left. You have only 2 days to write a business report (Task 1) and recommendations (Task 2) for the Australian Olympic Committeeto adopt.
Your manager expects you to use learnings from the local and global community and to use scholarly literature to inform your research report and recommendations.
Task 1 is to write abusiness report discussing the positive and negative impacts of PredictiveAI use in sports competitions today. It is recommended your report focuses on the role Predictive AI has on various impacts in elite sports competitions. You are expected to give input into the following two issues: competition judging of athletes and spectator engagement experiences (both in person and remote).Multiple sources of information should be used to comprehensively identify the benefits and drawbacks of AI use from the perspectives of competition judging and spectator engagement.
You are expected to use various sources of information (at least 10) in preparing the report. The format of the report should include an executive summary and conclusion. The report should be approximately 1000 words in length (excluding the reference list or table of contents).
Task 2 is to develop recommendations from the drawbacks you identified in Task 1 and how we should mitigate them. Your recommendations should follow from the most important findings in your research report. Your recommendations should be approximately 500 words in length.
As the recommendations should follow from findings in your report, it is expected references are not necessary in Task 2. However, if there is new content in Task 2, sources must be referenced.
