CASE 1: You have been brought in as an organisational design consultant by the CEO of the organisation you chose to investigate in this module. The CEO is concerned that the current activity path the organisation is following is not going to be good for the long term future of the organisation. Design a powerpoint presentation to the CEO outlining the pro's and con's of the current activity in terms of organisational design, and the potential positive and negative impacts on motivation, performance, retention, succession planning and talent management.
Submit a PowerPoint presentation. The length of the presentation is up to you, but remember, nobody likes presentation with too many slides - but equally nobody likes presentations that have too much on each slide. Getting the right balance here is important.
CASE 2: The CEO was so delighted with your last report, they have asked you to look into a culture improvement program for the organisation. Outline in a draft proposal the activity you would seek to undertake to firstly test/research the issues you would anticipate are arising and secondly address the findings (you can make some assumptions that the issues you anticipate are actually found to be present).
Submit a proposal document in two parts. Part 1 is the activity you seek to undertake to test/research the culture; Part 2 is the recommendations you would suggest implementing. You will need to clearly state the assumptions you are making about the findings of part 1 when you undertake part 2.
CASE 3: The CEO has now fired the HR Director in light of your two reports. The HR Director, it was felt, was not leading edge and not working strategically for the organisation's benefit. You have been asked to submit an application for the position. Develop a presentation to the Board to support your application and demonstrate your own individual approach to strategic HRM.
Output/Deliverable and parameters of the Assessment
Submit a letter of application (max 2 pages) outlining why you are the best person for the job role and include a brief presentation in a format of your choice that demonstrates your approach to strategic HRM.
