You are caring for Joseph, who is 36 years old. He has just been brought into ER for possible MI. He tells you that he has tried to cut down on his intake of fatty foods, and to quit smoking, but he just doesn't have the will power since he lost his job. He has 3 children at home that are in junior high. He is concerned because he knows he needs to find a job, but now is concerned that with his heart condition, he may not be able to do so. He knows he is very sedentary, but is a bit depressed after losing his job. After extensive testing, the physician informs Joseph that he did not have a heart attack, but that he does have very high lipid levels. He asks him to come in and meet with the RN to discuss ways he might be able to help reduce his risk for a heart attack.
