Then develop one competency model with proficiency scales that should differentiate between average and superior sales performance. For creating the proficiency levels for a competency:

Focus on writing behavioural statements that represent each proficiency scale.
When ordering the levels into the competency dictionary make sure that each higher level is more complex, challenging, or difficult to demonstrate than the behaviours in levels below it.
Select the level that is best represented for superior performance in your retail job.
Compare and contrast the traits and competencies.
