About
In this assignment you will evaluate screening for alcohol abuse and develop ideas to prevent teenage binge drinking.

Background
Linda lives in a community that has recently been stunned and saddened by the death of two local teens who died at the local university from alcohol poisoning. She works in a public health agency and has also recently seen the toll the long-term alcohol abuse has taken on a few of the clients seen at the agency. She has been tasked with developing an educational program for high school students and proposing a screening tool that the schools can use to alert them of students who may be vulnerable to drinking now or while in college.

Part 1: Education Program 30 points

Directions to complete part 1:

• Outline three main points and details that you would include in an education plan to deter high school students to not abuse alcohol and particularly not to binge drink.

• Be sure to cite any sources you use.

Part 2: Screening Process

Directions to Part 2:

• Develop a method for screening high school students to determine if they are vulnerable to drinking now, while in college, or if they are already drinking alcohol on a regular basis or binging.

• Some things to consider: the criteria listed on page 121 for judging a potential screening process; what behavioral, psychological, or social indicators would help determine an individual's vulnerability to drinking; what would entice the school and the students to participate in the screening; how would the screening process take place; should the plan include actions based on results.
