In the Case Study assignments in the previous five modules, you have created your website plan, generated the text content for your webpages, and created or gathered and optimized the images for your website.
In this module's Case Study, you will create your website. In the final part of the process, you will apply the concepts presented in this chapter and gather or create any animated and/or interactive elements that will help achieve your website's purpose. Remember that animated and/or interactive elements are not required elements for a successful website. Using the website plan you created in Modules 3 and 4, and the guidelines in Modules 2, 5, and 6, complete the following steps to create your website:
-Decide whether you will generate your pages with HTML code and a text editor such as Notepad, with web design software, such as Dreamweaver, a web template, or a CMS.
-Begin to create your webpages. As you add your text and position your optimized images, review your design plan and keep the following guidelines in mind:
-Use responsive web design techniques to ensure your website will be effective on multiple devices and screen sizes.
-Apply the rules of good typography.
-Include alternative text descriptions for images and follow other WAI accessibility guidelines.
-Develop your home page and subsidiary pages according to your chosen website structure.
-To achieve unity, establish and apply a consistent page layout and color scheme for all pages at your website. Limit the color scheme to no more than three colors.
-Download from the web, purchase, link to, or create any animated elements you want to include on your webpages. Insert the elements into your pages and give proper credit where necessary.
-Develop any web-based forms you want to include on your webpages following this chapter's guidelines for creating usable forms.
-Download from the web, purchase, or create interactive elements. Incorporate the interactive element(s) into your website.
