Assignment -

Following points to be covered for assignment:

1. Development of sample power system given in paper in which single phase and three phase faults will be applied at different distances of line with various fault resistances and different loading conditions.

2. To Develop Differential Equation algorithm for distance protection model developed in MATLAB in paper.

3. The algorithm will be able to interpret the DC component as a part of the solution of the differential equation no. 3 in paper which represents simple transmission line model.

4. Verify the behaviour of the algorithm for each case of fault condition as above.

5. To test system performance without series capacitor (series compensation) and also with series compensation.

6. The series capacitor is modelled with its overvoltage protection, including the MOV and the Spark Gap devices.

7. To draw measured impedance trajectory from load point up to the fault point for various fault conditions as above.

8. To interpret voltage over the series capacitor, the current and the energy dissipated by the MOV during the fault on the line.
