Purpose
The purpose of the computer assignment in STS2250 is to provide you, the student, the opportunity to work with and demonstrate your ability to manipulate data using statistical software. In addition to calculating various statistics it is equally as important to be able to give an accurate interpretation of the statistics you have calculated.
Data
The data for this computer assignment is "Recent Southern Alberta real estate data Fall 2020 C02" and can be found in the "Modules" tab ...."Computer Assignment" in Canvas. While the data is a fictional sample it does represent a realistic set of data, a set of data which you could readily collect for yourself in any type of business situation.
Calculating statistics
All stats are to be calculated using MegaStat in Microsoft Excel. Your "answers" need to all be on one "output" tab in Excel. Please ensure your answers, especially your interpretations, are clearly noted/highlighted. The majority of the marks come from the interpretations. All interpretations MUST follow the respective output from MegaStat on the "output" tab.
Required:
1. Using the "list price" data calculate and fully interpret each of the: mean, median, range and standard deviation.
2. Using the "size (sq ft)" data calculate and fully interpret each of the: mean, median, range and standard deviation.
3. Develop and interpret a 95% confidence interval for the "list price" of Recent Southern Alberta real estate data.
4. A recent article reported that, despite the housing boom in Alberta, the average list price for a home in Southern Alberta was still less than $325,000. Using a 5% significance level test the hypothesis that the average list price is still less than $325,000.
Be sure to include all 5 hypothesis steps and a full interpretation.
