Objective: To develop and evaluate an intervention plan that addresses the changes in a child's behavior.
Scenario:
Akira, age 3, always arrives at school with a broad smile and an eagerness to begin playing. He frequently heads for the art table, because art is one of his favorite activities. However, for the past week he has been arriving in a tearful state almost every morning. He says that nothing is wrong when asked why he is crying. As Akira's teacher, you record your observations on the daily attendance form and begin formulating a plan to determine what may be troubling Akira.
1. Complete the first step of your plan by briefly describing why you would be concerned about Akira's current behavior.
2. Be sure to read the SELF-EVALUATION section below to guide your thinking. Write self-evaluation after you have completed your description.
3. Review the assessment rubric to see how your assignment and self-evaluation will be graded.
Self- Evaluation:
1. For each item in your description:
a. Explain how this item addresses the issues in the scenario.
b. Provide evidence from the chapter supporting this item (with citations).
2. Describe and justify how your description would improve teaching and learning in the scenario.
