Objective of this task:
To demonstrate performance application for this task, you are required to prepare detailed design of civil concrete structures as per provided instructions. You are required to:
• Plan and prepare for detailed design of civil concrete structures.
• Carry out detailed design of civil concrete structures.
• Finalise design processes for civil concrete structures.
• Support and review design implementation of civil concrete structures.

Assessment procedure
You are working as deputy civil works designer for ABC Constructions Design and Work (providing civil engineering services). You have been entrusted with responsibility to prepare detailed design of civil concrete structures for two project works.
1. design of one beam of any floor of age care centre.
2. design of one column of any floor of age care centre.

Part A: Plan and prepare for detailed design of civil concrete structures.
You will conduct a meeting with senior civil works designer to:
• Obtain and confirm work requirements.
• Access, interpret and apply documentation required for detailed civil concrete structures design.

During the meeting:

Part C: prepare detailed designs of civil concrete structures.
In this part for this assessment, you are required to:
• Develop and complete detailed design of civil concrete structures according to job requirements as you confirmed in part A. Design of civil concrete structures should include:

o shear forces
o bending moments
o stresses
o areas
o volumes
o mass
o sizes of components for civil concrete structure
• Prepare cost estimate for implementing design of civil concrete structures. Use the provided excel sheet for cost estimation.

Part D: Design approval:
Conduct a meeting with senior civil works designer to:
• review of design of civil concrete structures.
• Gain design approval.

Part E: implementation of civil concrete structures
In a role play activity with two engineers ( role playing participants) of ABC Constructions Design and Work,
Describe and validate the design. Provided the clarification and advice to personnel implementing design as required to meet project requirements. During description include the following:
o Understand the Design
o Project Schedule
o Budget Management
o Contribute to design validation process as required to meet job requirements.
o Encourage personnel to ask questions and seek clarification when needed.
o Clearly communicate the design intent and the objectives that need to be achieved.
o Ensure that everyone understands the project's goals and requirements.
o Define and communicate the roles and responsibilities of each team member involved in the implementation process. This includes contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
o Discuss potential risks and challenges associated with the project.
