Overview
For this assignment, you will create an outline and draft of the introduction paragraph for your research essay. The first step in writing a successful essay is planning, so creating an outline will help you stay focused and create an organized essay. An outline is a brief plan that shows each section of your paper in order. Your thesis statement then will provide a blueprint for your outline since you will need to talk about each supporting point from your thesis in a separate paragraph. Using your outline, you can decide where different pieces of evidence fit, which will help you to plan out your body paragraphs. You will also need to plan for an introduction and a conclusion to complete your outline.

For the draft of your introduction paragraph, you will practice getting the audience's attention, introducing your topic, and including your thesis statement.

Requirements
You will use the templates in the webtext to develop each part of your outline and to draft your introduction paragraph. Make sure to:

Map out the introduction, the body, and the thesis statement in the outline.
Provide specific pieces of evidence for each of your three supporting points in the outline.
Include a hook to engage the reader, background information, and a thesis statement in the introduction.
Write in the third-person point of view.
Use SWS style to cite any information taken from sources.
