BSBMGT517 Manage operational plan
You are required to develop an ‘operational plan' for the Canterbury Renovation (cabinet making) company. It is a RESEARCH PROJECT, and the Canterbury Renovation is an existing company, so do some RESEARCH!!!!!!!!!! (Don't forget to reference it!!!) Their business plan is given to you that you must use to answer some of the points in your assessments. Your ‘operational plan' must be based on the business plan!
Task 1- 2 - 3 are connected:
Operational plans have three main stages:
1. Development (scoping and planning) stage - Task 1 (accurate operational plan + policies and procedures)
2. Implementation stage - Task 2 (6 slides of powerpoint presentation + meeting agenda)
3. Monitoring and review stage- Task 3 (evaluate and monitor your operational plan's strategies effectiveness, and identify at least one underperformed area, then amend your operational plan accordingly (contingency plan)

Project Assessment Task 1
You have been employed by Canterbury Renovations, which is a start-up cabinet making business. Your role is to help develop and implement operational plans that support the direction and aspirations of the business.
You are to obtain a copy of the business plan from your employer (who will be role-played by your assessor), and read it carefully.
Next, you are to develop a detailed operational plan that ensures the objectives and strategies outlined are met by work teams. As a minimum, your operational plan must outline:
• Strategies - at least three
• Performance criteria
• Timeframes
• Budgets
• Responsibilities
• Resources

Project/Role-play Assessment Task 2
Once developed, you are to arrange a meeting with your assessor, who will role-play your supervisor. The purpose of this meeting is to explain and gain approval for the implementation of your plan. (make a meeting agenda)
Following Assessment 1, you are to prepare for and implement your operational plan in part.
Your implementation will encompass running a meeting for your team in which you:
• Explain and discuss the operational plan in detail - make a short powerpoint presentation about the operational plan (6 slides)
• Allocate responsibilities for at least 2 different strategies outlined within the plan
Report Assessment Task 3
Monitor and review operational performance
Development and implementation are only part of the overall process of managing operational plans. Monitoring and reviewing operational performance is also vital to ensure progress is being made towards the organisation's goals, contingency plans are in place and information is being documented properly.
In performing this task, you should:
• Consider your operational plan developed in Assessment 1
• Identify the type of information required to determine the effectiveness of each strategy
• Assess the profitability and productivity outcomes of each strategy
• Identify areas of underperformance
• Identify improvements that are appropriate to ensure the viability of the operational plan
Once you have gathered this information, you are to provide a written report that:
• comments on the effectiveness of the plan's implementation
• reviews the financial outcome (in terms of viability, profitability and productivity) of each strategy
• outlines the areas of underperformance, along with recommendations for improvements
• includes an amended version of your operational plan, with the changes highlighted
• outlines in detail how the changes will be implemented
