1. Take a hypothetical learner in your care and examine his or her self-help and daily living skills programming in terms of ABA and autism/activity schedule

a. What is positive and appropriate about it? What could be improved? Discuss the changes you would make. Think: INDEPENDENCE, FUNCTIONALITY & GENERALIZATION!
b. What questions would you consider asking the student/family/care-givers regarding priorities in self-help skills and ADLs? Remember specifically to consider cultural norms- as some cultures may not value certain skills and we always have to remain sensitive and inclusive of the cultures of our students and families.
c. Consider how an activity schedule might help this learner. Think: independence, functionality and generalization! How would you apply it?
d. Would the learner, caregivers and family value the use of an activity schedule? Why/why not?
e. Develop an instructional program to teach the use of an activity schedule to this learner. Include information on prompts, fading, data collection, and use of technology. Again- be sure to incorporate and comment on independence, functionality and generalization.
