Assignment Overview

This annotated bibliography will offer a specific overview of the sources you plan to use in your essay. You will need to follow the research steps we covered in class:

Conduct preliminary (junk) research to learn about your topic.

Develop an expanded thesis, which includes the subtopics you plan to cover in your essay.

Start developing a generalized outline of what you will specifically cover in your essay.

Find academic research (usually journal articles from the college library) that pertains to your subtopics. Find more sources than you feel you will need.

Discard sources that you deem as unfit for your project.

Write an entry for each of the sources you plan to use in your essay.

See the slides for an example entry.

Note that you must use a minimum of 8 outside sources, preferably more.

Specific Assignment Requirements

Place your thesis statement at the top of your annotated bibliography.

Your instructor must have a good understanding of your overall argument in order to determine if your sources will logically support your overall claim.

Your thesis statement will be graded as part of the annotated bibliography assignment.

Review Annotated Bibliography notes and handouts.

Be sure that you understand what an annotated bibliography is

Be sure that you closely examine the example entry as your entries will need to be styled in a similar manner.
