Case: Develop an evaluation plan for the proposed program that you identified in the Unit I Essay. Include an example of your evaluation tool. Be sure to discuss when your evaluation will take place, how often it will take place, who will distribute the evaluation, and to whom it will be distributed. See below the objectives and plan for the program that will help to create the evaluation plan.
Objective 1: The participating schools will increase the number of children who eat at least one serving of fruit and vegetables per day by 50% at the end of the academic year through nutrition education courses.
Objective 2: By the end of the academic year the students will reduce the number of sugary drinks consumed by 50%, through the implementation of regulations to ban bringing or selling sugary drinks at school.
Objective 3: All children at participant schools will participate in physical activity for 30 minutes per day during the calendar year.
Based on the objective and goal, below is a program plan for the Wellness Childhood- Family Nutrition Program:
1: A nutrition education curriculum will be implemented about eating more vegetables and fruits, choosing healthy options, and creating healthier snacks. Students and parents will attend nutrition education courses during the academic year once a week, these sessions will be held by registered dieticians. Evaluations will be done prior to starting the program and at the end of the program, surveys will be handed out to test acquired knowledge in participants.
2: Eliminate any sugary drinks supplied in the school and forbid students from bringing them to class. A designated group (teacher, educational coach, and dietician) will review drinks served in school to make sure they are not high in sugar. These changes will be implemented during the first month of the academic year and proper announcements and marketing should take place in the participating schools. At the end of the academic year, surveys must be completed to get feedback and suggestions from participants including parents.
3: Physical education will be included in the school schedule for all students each school day for a minimum of 30 minutes. Classes of physical education will be scheduled to start on the second week of class, when starting the academic year. The dietician will provide surveys to determine the students' BMI and physical condition; this evaluation will be performed on the first week and at the end of the program to compare participants' progress before and after the program.
