Background Information:

You work for a local acute care hospital in the Quality Review Department assisting with chart audits and process improvement. It has come to your attention that proper protocols in the Emergency Department potentially are not being followed for patients seeking treatment for chest pain.

You are being tasked with constructing tools to be used for auditing whether or not proper chest pain protocols are being met in the Emergency Department.

What you will be turning in for this assignment:

Question A. Develop an Audit Guidelines/Instructions document.

Question B. Construct a Data Collection Sheet to be used for conducting a mock audit.

Question C. Construct an Excel Spreadsheet to be used for data collection and analysis (Excel spreadsheet with analysis results from the mock audit).

Question D. Analyze and summarize results from a "mock audit." Students may choose to also supply a graph or chart to visually capture the findings.

Question E. Summarize the audit findings and offer potential solutions or defend the current protocols.

Question F. Develop Audit Guidelines/Instructions for auditors to use for this study.

Question G. Construct a Data Collection Sheet where auditors will record results from charts pulled.

Question H. Summarize results from "mock audit" - you can either create results based on your research or perform an Internet search to discover actual survey results published.

Question I. Finally, conclude your audit results by first providing the benchmark you used and then answering either: A) the audit results are satisfactory and defend what was done correctly (provide examples), or B) your audit results reflect/identify issues in the proper protocols being met. Describe what improvements you feel need to happen since you are the subject matter expert at the hospital.
