Homework: Dissertation

You will go online and find two dissertation studies you believe may be considered a well-designed and well-written piece of literature (ensure they are current within the past five years) and in the methodology, you are interested in using for your research study (Qualitative/Quantitative).

Dissertation Critique

I. This homework's primary emphasis will be to develop an in-depth analysis of a dissertation's introductory sections.

II. Choose one of the two dissertations selected. Read through this dissertation carefully, looking for all the necessary parts. You will critique Chapter 1 of the dissertation using the AQuA form as a guide. Select the appropriate AQuA format (Qualitative/Quantitative) in the Doctoral Lounge for evaluating Chapter 1. Include the completed AQuA form assessment in the appendix of your homework for this week.

III. You will also include a PDF of the selected dissertation that you chose as an uploaded document along with your written work.

IV. This homework will use the outline of the AQuA form information to carefully critique the various parts of your selected dissertation. Use the different sections of the outline as your required "headings" for the paper. You will also add in the introductory section of your paper, a summary of the actual dissertation you selected and why you feel this was an excellent example for you to review and follow during this class. Remember, be sure to pick a dissertation from your disciplinary field of interest (e.g., business, nursing, education, psychology, etc.) and, if possible, one related to the same research topic that interests you.
