1. "Your employees will soon be finishing their trial period and will be starting their regular job assignments. Your manager is concerned that they will continue to learn and grow on the job. He has asked you to develop a training program. There are three questions that every training program developer must answer: 1. What are the key tasks that the employ must complete in order to do the job in a satisfactory manner? What are the KSAs needed to perform these tasks.2. How should the employee acquire these KSAs? (Remember you have time and money constraints. Also some KSAs must be acquired before other KSAs. For example, most states require people to pass a written test on driver safety BEFORE obtaining a learner's permit that lets them get in the car and drive).3. How will the employee demonstrate that they have acquired the KSAs and are using them to perform their job? (Beware of the supervisor who tells a new employee, "That stuff is fine in the classroom, but we have a real job to do here.")You will: A. Needs Analysis 1. List a task for each of the following situations: a. Employees must be able to perform when they arrive for their first day of work. b. Employee is expected to learn through experience, assistance from co-workers and/oror self-study the first month of the job. c. Employee need to be trained on-the-job. d. Employee requires formal instruction away from the job. e. Employee must acquire for promotion to the next higher title. 2. For each of these tasks, answer the three questions listed above.B. Planning and Scheduling Your company has a policy that employees should have at least 40 hours of formal training conducted by staff from the Corporate Training Center. This training may be done all at once or it may performed on different days. It may take place at the Corporate Training Center or at another location. The Corporate Training Center has the ability to simulate every piece of equipment and task done within the company.(I was once involved in designing such a center. We had visitors from as far away as Saudi Arabia, Japan, and China - and ended up training employees from other companies and other nations).Design a training schedule designed to 1) refresh employee on what the student has already learned, 2) introduce the employee on new equipment and procedures introduced since last training, and 3) prepare employee for promotion to the next higher job title. The forty hours will not include breaks, travel time, meals etc. (These need to be scheduled but they do not count as training time). List the training in the order it will be given. For example, the first topic listed below is safety. The safety training below might be given on a normal work day, with employees reporting to the work location a hour later than usual. Or it might be given in conjunction with other training.Remember that to get full credit you should compare different points of view and make a decision. You also need to cite the text, supplementary materials, and own research.Generally, people learn from repetition over time so it is good to spread the training out over the year. At the same time, it may be more cost-effective to do the training all-at-once, and some tasks may require more than a day to learn.Remember to indicate how you will evaluate student learning and how you will handle students who do not successfully complete a given unit of instruction.Your training schedule will have the format. Day 1. Time: 0800 - 0900 Duration: 1 hour Location: District Office Topic: On-the-job Safety Methodology: Lecture/Training Film Evaluation: Written Quiz
