Exemplification Assignment

Subject: Anscombe Katz

Thesis: Anscombe Katz is the most ____ woman/man in the Bailkey Pierce Society.

Thesis statement: Develop a thesis statement in the opening paragraph. The thesis statement should indicate the subject and the assertion to be made about the subject in the composition.

If the composition is a single paragraph composition, the thesis statement will be topic sentence of the paragraph. If it is a multiparagraph composition, the thesis statement would also be the topic sentence of the first paragraph with the topic sentences of succeeding paragraphs developing or supporting the thesis statement.

Development: Through use of relevant, typical and specific examples. Support the thesis statement.

Organization: Organize the supporting material in a definite way. A chronological organization Would present examples according to a time sequence, a spatial organization according to arrangement, strangely enough, in space. A climactic organization would probably save the best examples for last. Suspense! Anticipation!

As in all things the best is not necessarily last, however, (Consider if you dare, the last example to your own thesis!), and use of the best examples at the beginning of the composition may be impressive, if not shocking,

Total statement; Create a total statement through the whole composition. A good writer needs no final statement, summary or even conclusion. The =Position itself is its assertion and significance.
