Assignment
1. Golden Lines. In a paragraph (10+ sentences), share one "golden line" (quote or idea) from the Grit: The power of passion and perseverance video that stood out to you for whatever reason. Explain why it stood out to you.
2. Example. Go find someone that has a great personal example of grit (the passion, perseverance, courage, and resolve Angela refers to in the video), and write a short summary of their story (7 to 10 sentences). If you are not able to find someone to talk to, then, share an example of someone you know (could be work, family, friend or famous person) that has "grit." What traits do they have and why do you admire them?
3. Reflect. After watching the video and hearing someone else's story of grit, in a paragraph (7 to 10 sentences) reflect on whether you have grit in school (or a specific subject in school) and provide a specific example of when you demonstrated grit. If you don't feel that you have grit in school, write about whether you have grit in another part of your life.
4. Learn. In a short paragraph (3 to 5 sentences), discuss something you learned after reading the Harvard Business Review article on How to Develop a Strong Work Ethic. and how might you apply it to school or work moving forward?
5. Apply. Interviews are a time when we get asked about our work ethic. Below are some examples of interview questions about work ethic. Choose 1 question and write a 7-10 sentence response that you might give to the question in an actual interview. Be sure to give a specific example (see sample student submission for a reference).
Pick 1 of the following to answer:
a. Describe your work ethic and provide a specific example that demonstrates your work ethic.
b. Describe a time when you went beyond the expectations at work? Be sure to share where you were working and specific details about what happened.
b. How would your current colleagues describe your work ethic? Provide specific examples that they might reference.
c. What do you do when things are slow at work and you have downtime? Provide specific examples.
