Case discussion - eCommerce
Hammer Wines has been a small family owned and run liquor wholesaler located in Victoria, Australia. The business began as a small retail store and grew into a national import and distribution operation. Today, 17 staff work in the business: the owners-manager, sales staff, marketing expertise, warehouse operational staff, administration assistance and a truck driver.
Hammer Wines has recently signed a sales agreement with Woolworths and, as such, is to become the wholesale end of a complex supply chain of convenience stores. The staff members are having trouble appre- ciating how a supply chain such as this functions, and to appreciate that this change might bring benefits. The owner-manager has brought in a team of eCommerce experts to brief the staff on the new operations.
