Take note: We are the company and hiring team that is the prospective we are coming from for this project. How will we find the right person for this job? What processes will be take? How can we find the best candidate for this position? If my textbook would help you in anyway let me know. This is a project based on how companies find and hire candidates for positions.

Project is Designed for you to think and make a detailed approach to this process and take many angles into consideration. The courses title is: MGT employee selection and evaluation.

Selection and Performance Appraisal Project -

Purpose: The major project for this course is to develop a selection plan, design a measure to be used in the selection process, and develop a performance appraisal given a job analysis for a managerial position. The purpose of this project is to develop the student's skills as a practitioner in the area of selection.

Project Phases: The project will be completed in three phases:

Phase 1 - Develop a selection/assessment plan for the position of Sales Manager for either a golf equipment company (e.g., Callaway Golf) or for a contemporary clothing and apparel company (e.g., L. L. Bean). Your group should reach consensus on one of the two positions.

Phase 2 - Design a selection measure (assessment, personality test, situational judgment interview, or behavioral based interview) to be used as part of the selection plan for your Sales Manager position.

Phase 3 - Design a performance appraisal rating form that could be used to assess the performance of your Sales Manager position.

General Guidelines: Each phase of the project should be accompanied by supporting documentation that is appropriate for an HR leader who would be involved in designing selection processes. Instructions for the assessment and performance appraisal should be given so that your product could become an "off-the-shelf" assessment product that could be implemented immediately in the real world.

This is to complete only phase 1 of the project. Use as many well written, detailed, and colored slides with pictures, designs, professional appearance as possible. However, if you can provide an estimate for the entire project as well, phases 1 and 2 included, that would help. Thank-you.

Include a heading for the plan and sub-headings for each section. Discuss what steps/actions your group recommends for recruiting/sourcing candidates and for evaluating them and making the decision. A plan should include specific steps and would be helped by inclusion of whom will participate (e.g., HR, Program Manager, Sales Specialists, etc.), the timeline for the initiative, and any assumptions, concerns or risks. Each of the requirements that I addressed in my earlier announcement should be clearly addressed and your rationale should be included. I hope this helps. I prefer not to post an example. That makes the exercise too easy.

Grading Criteria: The following criteria will be considered as you are graded on each phase of the project: Relevance to the job (Sales Manager). Carefully review the job analysis and make sure the selection plan, measure, and performance appraisal are all very relevant to the job. Professionalism, language, and structure. Ease of use for accompanying instructions. Fidelity. The measures should be realistic and able to be used in the real world. Thoroughness. The selection measures and performance appraisal should accurately assess all areas of the job. Application of course concepts and material, demonstration of knowledge. Overall quality of product, instructions, and any accompanying documentations. Due Dates: Phase 1 – Selection/Assessment Plan - Due at the end of Week 4.
