Aim of Assessment
This assessment covers developing a Schedule of Quantities for selected trades using Excel Takeoff (Product), in accordance with the Australia and New Zealand Standard Method of Measurement 2018 (ANZSMM 2018).
Learning Outcomes
Develop a schedule of quantities for selected trades using appropriate software.
Assessment Instructions Scenario:
This assessment covers developing a Schedules of Quantities for selected trades for a residential project, using Excel Takeoff (Product). Hardcopies of the drawings and Specification sections for each trade will be provided as teaching progresses. A set of drawings and Specifications is also available under the Moodle Assessments Tab. Print off further A3 drawings if you need fresh unmarked copies
Task:
Measure the trade sections shown below, in accordance with the following:
• Schedules must be measured in Microsoft Excel Takeoff (Product). A copy will be provided. Set up a specific Excel Takeoff (Product) sheet for the residential project.
• Schedules must comply with the Australia and New Zealand Standard Method of Measurement 2018 (ANZSMM 2018). See Textbooks and readings to purchase a copy.
• Include all preambles, specific to the trade and the project
• Include side notes (references to documents) and side casts (calculations)
• Headings and descriptions should be clear, concise and error free and in accordance with the description rules shown below.
• If any material is not clear, raise a tender query to the lecturer using the Moodle Discussion Forum.
Measurement description rules:
• Generally cheapest first for items under each heading
• No full stops at end of descriptions
• Capital letter for first word of each description, e.g., 100 x 50 Stud
• Capitalise document names, e.g., Specification, Schedule of Quantities
• Descriptions to state; (a) material; (b) how material is fixed; and (c) what it is fixed to (unless stated in the heading). Generally, do not state if materials are nailed or fixed to timber as this is generally understood.
• State dimensions in metres or mm only. Do not state mm. For example; 100 x 50 Bottom plate, 10 Gibraltar board, Window 2.4m x 1.2m
• Items are always supply and fix, unless otherwise described. Do not state supply and fix.
