You are required to access the simulated business of 'Bayside Call Centre.' Your role will be that of a newly appointed Human Resources Manager.
You have attended the first management meeting and have been advised of a lawsuit the company is facing with regards to unlawful discrimination. The compliant has been filed by an ex-employee and the manager in question no longer works for Bayside Call Centre. The legal team is responsible for handling the situation. However, you are required to ensure that Bayside Call Centre polices include and support diversity and that there is no discrimination in the workplace. There is an existing Bayside Call Centre 'Diversity Policy', that you must refer to.
When you took over the duties recently, you were given a few employee complaints that have not been addressed. These complaints are listed below:
• A call centre team member feels he was not considered for promotion due to his age & the fact that he has not spent enough years in the company as compared to others, even though he was excelling in all KPIs and over achieving his targets. He has brought this to his manager's attention and was ignored.
• An administrative team member has been making complaints about bullying by the team leader. She has been ridiculed and laughed at during team meetings because of her accent. No response was given to her and now she feels she must resign as she doesn't feel like coming to work.
• Another employee from the IT department has alleged that his supervisor made offensive comments about Asians in relation to COVID 19 to him and to others while he was present. He also claimed that he had brought it up with the senior manager and instead of a resolution, he was victimised for making a compliant. You are required to lead the process of review of the current Diversity Policy and the existing practices in the office, to recommend & implement solutions to the identified issues.
Part D - Approval & Implementation
1. Finalise the Diversity policy & procedure document by including the changes and addition you have recommended. (Include the policy changes, the procedures as well as the recommended diversity activities).
2. Develop a resource plan for all the possible resources that would be required in order to implement the recommended changes.
3. As you found a number of employee issues unattended, you are to also develop a feedback register for the company to systematically record all employee feedback on an ongoing basis.
4. Draft an email as per the organisational procedures, to the Company Director seeking approval for the policy change document & employee feedback register to be implemented. With this email you need to attach the drafted policy, the feedback register as well as the resource plan. These 4 documents & drafts must be submitted as a part of the assessment answers.
