Task description

Develop a research aim embedded in a brief and concise background relevant to this/these question(s).

This task mimics an important part of every grant application.

Methods, details of the research plan, and outcomes are NOT part of this assignment.

You are welcome to build this grant writing around one of the topics discussed in assignment 1 or 2.

This assessment is based on a real-life example of writing a grant. However, we will only focus on the following:

Extensive and detailed description of the research proposal (background and introduction) and the presentation of the research question(s)

This task's word limit is about 1,500 words, including references. Please format your document to a line spacing of 1.5 lines. The complete document (excluding graphics) should be at most 4 pages!

To complete this document, you will have to Identify a topic for your research.

Develop a background to the research topic (about 2 pages), i.e. what is the research about; where does it sit in the broader context? This includes summarising original research articles.

Identify from your summary what gaps in knowledge are evident

Identify two or three aims (research questions) to address these gaps Present your writing in the form of a graphical abstract
