Background

Beta Alpha Psi is an "international honoraryorganization for Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Business Analytics students and professionals". The club works on a students-helping-students model, where student leadersrun professional development, community service, and networking events for the benefit of their fellow students. The organization has over 300 chapters worldwide, operating under the same umbrella but with their own unique features. The University of Auckland chapter was established in 2008 (refer to www.bapuoa.org). It is supportedby the University through the Department of Accounting and Finance and AUSA. The chapter has generally been successful in attracting a top- performing cohort of students who initially participate in the chapter as members and later support the group as alumni.

Recently, the student leaders of thechapter have expressed an interest in getting a better understanding of the effectiveness of the chapter and ways its performance can be improved. One of the leaders proposed that the chaptershould develop a programme evaluation. They have approached your group to help them with this task.

One of the student leaders has also pointed out that there is currently no structured process to designing and launching new club events. He likes the idea of using a staged process where evidence is evaluated at different points of the design processbefore the eventsare approved for launch.

1. Draw on the stage-gate model to design a structured process that can be used to manageand evaluate Beta Alpha Psi's new event ideas.

2. Specify the activities and performance measures that should be included at the prospective stages and gates.
