Problem

You are the director of the HIM department at the local hospital in a small town in Mississippi. The chair of the governing board has asked you to develop a training program for the group on creating their quality assurance group, as well as how to benchmark their quality indicators against local hospitals in the area. Most of the members are middle aged, are not very tech-savvy, but are interested in finding ways to save money and avoid litigation.

You are not quite certain how to begin this project, but want to help out the group. The board chair has asked you to determine a date when you would be ready to present the training.

A. Make an outline of action steps and dates for your training plan.

B. Develop a PowerPoint presentation (6-8 slides) that you would use to train the group.

C. Use as many graphs as you can, pick out some key hospital indicators from various resources from previous assignments and or book. For instance, HAIs, Falls, etc. A good place to start would be HCUP identifiers. There are other resources as well.
