Assignment: Option 1: Crime Reduction Plan

As a Planning Associate, you have been asked to develop a plan to reduce crime in your community. This three-page plan should discuss some of the more common or frequent crimes in your area. Your plan should address the following:

• Root cause of the issue,

• Stakeholders,

• Outreach,

• Community involvement,

• Social capital, and

• Recommended resolution technique.

Your plan will be graded based upon your ability to relate any of the readings to your professional practice or to any of your "real world" experiences outside of work. Use your life experiences and occupational backgrounds to frame your approach to any idea, theme, or theory noted by any of the authors. Be sure to discuss any of the topics we discussed in the course to develop your plan. Make sure you include at least one in-text citation for each source you use in this paper. You also can visit the Urban Institute for ideas or your local community development of law enforcement websites.

The paper should be 2-3 pages (not including title or reference pages), double spaced, in CSU-Global APA format, and include a minimum of three (3) scholarly sources.

Option 2: Sustainability Plan

As a Planning Associate, you have been asked to develop a sustainability plan. This three-page plan should discuss sustainability issues in your community. Your plan should include the following:

• Issue(s),

• Root cause(s),

• Challenges,

• Community outreach,

• Social capital involved, and

• Possible solutions.

Remember, this plan needs to focus around the concept of sustainability. Your plan will be graded based upon your ability to relate any of the readings to your professional practice or to any of your "real world" experiences outside of work. Use your life experiences and occupational backgrounds to frame your approach to any idea, theme, or theory noted by any of the authors. Be sure to discuss what you learned about sustainability in the course lecture. Use headings for each bullet point listed above. Make sure you include at least one in-text citation for each source you use in this paper. You also can visit the Urban Institute for ideas or your local community development website.
