You manage a non-profit organization that monitors the illegal trafficking of children between Asia and the United States. The organization is funded by a federal agency devoted to abolishing child trafficking, and is also supported by private donations. One of your organization's daily responsibilities is to monitor websites that promote the sale of children to sex offenders and child predators. Additionally, you and your staff write and distribute a monthly newsletter, which reports some of your observations from the websites on which you have observed this illegal activity.
Recently, your organization began delivering presentations to local schools to educate children and parents about the harsh realities of child trafficking and the dangers of child predators. The Board of Directors asks you to prepare a formal report of your observations of the daily website monitoring, and you comply with the request. After reading your report, one of the Board members proposes to dissolve the entire organization withdrawing support from the organization on the basis that it neither prevents child trafficking nor provides much specific information to the federal agency. Frustrated by the Board's reaction, you and your staff decide to prepare a more detailed report highlighting the important services that your organization provides.

1. a. Develop a plan that applies effective leadership in organizations.

Discuss several leadership theories in detail, identifying them by name.

Choose the most appropriate theory to use to convince the Board of the need to continue providing the same types of human services to the community as they have in the past.

Using this chosen leadership style, respond to the Board by preparing an Executive Summary. State your position and provide recommendations about how to create a win-win situation for both the community and the organization.

2. Create a detailed letter to present to the federal agency stating your position concerning the need for continuing the work of the non-profit. Include information that justifies the work you and your staff are doing, along with recommendations for improving services that the non-profit organization can offer to the federal agency to increase knowledge of trafficking activities.

3. Design an education and training plan appropriate for training school-age children and their parents, as well as others in the community, about the dangers of this illegal activity. Your response should be 2-4 pages and should include references to at least two seminal scholarly works or scholarly works published in the past six years.
