You are the new strength and conditioning coach for a local high school basketball team. The head coach asks you to help the team increase explosive power in the upper body and jump height of the players. You think adding plyometric exercises to their conditioning program might be the way to go. Although the coach didn't mention it, you also notice some of the players are struggling to keep up when repeated short sprints are required during games. The players are already doing strength and endurance training. The head coach asks you for a plan for training the players to improve their performance.

Describe a brief plan for incorporating anaerobic training into your team's current conditioning regimen. When would you add this training (time of season, for example)? What factors, such as recovery from games and other training, would you need to consider and how would you make the plan work with the training schedule? What specific exercises might you choose, and how would those help alleviate the problems you have observed? You need to support your choices and be convincing because the head coach is very skeptical of your ideas!
