Assignment:

Develop a plan for implementing organisational change in relation to a sustainability project that demonstrates your knowledge and understanding of leadership, and leading change in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC). You may choose your present place of work or an early childhood service where you have recently undertaken practicum or have previously worked. Decide on an area for change that relates to either social, economic, or environmental sustainability. Some examples of organisational change, based on ideas of sustainability, can be found in Chapters 3 and 4 of the Davis (2015) text where the Sustainable Planet Project is discussed

Outline of implementation plan

1. How might you implement your project as a leader. Justify your choice of leadership approaches/strategies, with reference to the leadership literature (for example, Gibson's chapter in the Davis text, readings by Rodd - chapter 7 in Leading Change in the Early Years, and chapter 8 in Leadership in EC and chapter 6 in Waniganayake et al.)

2. Identify barriers you might expect to encounter if you were to implement the project plan in your service in the future. Consider the challenges facing leaders who attempt to bring about change and briefly explain and justify with reference to the leadership/leading change in ECE literature how you would manage the challenges and facilitate collaborative teams (why you would take these approaches, or use these strategies and skills given what you know about leading change in ECEC).
